Our projects in Italy!

December 2021

Carpaccio performed a selection of Renaissance masterpieces on modern instruments in Oberbozen in December. Among them were mainly compositions by Robert Morton, Johannes Ockeghem, Antoine Busnois, Pierre de la Rue, Josquin Desprez and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. The programme was concluded with a baroque "l'homme armé" mass attributed to Giacomo Carissimi.

The origin of the well-known chanson melody "L'homme Armé" probably lies in the 15th century and may have been written in connection with the Christian Crusades, the composer is unknown. Since then, it has been repeatedly played and adapted by a wide variety of composers.

September 2021

In September, the Concert Association Carpaccio performed the oratorio "Sanctus Petrus et Sancta Maria Magdalena" and "Miserere in C" by J.A. Hasse.

The latin oratorio "Sanctus Petrus et Sancta Maria Magdalena" was probably written for the Ospedale degl'Incurabili in Venice for which he worked regularly as "Maestro" between 1734 and 1739. Following the oratorio, a Miserere setting (Psalm 51) of Hasse was probably considered.

Carpaccio rounded off the work with the first version of the Miserere in c, which is preserved in a version for women's choir and string orchestra and a later revision for mixed choir, 2 flutes, 2 oboes and strings. The countertenor Arnaud Gluck and the soprano Judith Gallmetzer performed the two title roles. Delia Bacher (mezzo-soprano), Laura Obermair and Roberta Szklénar (soprano) also performed.

August 2021

In August 2021, Carpaccio performed the programme "Sturm und Drang" in Sarentino and Fiè allo Sciliar.

Among the works performed was Symphony No. 44 in E minor (Hob. I:44) with the title "Trauersinfonie" from 1770 by Joseph Haydn , which was written during Haydn's "Sturm und Drang" period around 1770. Furthermore, the symphony no. 27 in G major KV 199 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was to be heard, which is characterized by its cheerfulness and youthful spirit and was composed in Salzburg in 1773. The programme was rounded off with the Symphony in G minor M.A42/I:27 by the comparatively unknown composer Antonio Rosetti from the same era. His only symphony in minor from 1787 is turbulent and full of passion.

2020

The "Stabat Mater" by G. B. Pergolesi and the cantata "Tritt auf die Glaubensbahn" BWV 52 for the Sunday after Christmas were the content of the concerts on 3 January in the church of Deutschnofen and 4 January in the church of Oberbozen. In addition to the vocal solos, the string orchestra and the solo brass players, a large basso continuo group was also featured.

All other planned projects and concerts this year had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

2019

The largest and most elaborate project to date was the performance of the opera "Orfeo ed Euridice" by Ch. W. Gluck on 26 July in the church in Lengmoos and on 27 July in  Sarnthein. Delia Bacher in the leading role of Orfeo, Judith Gallmetzer as Euridice and Laura Obermair as Amore were also able to show off their theatrical skills as soloists. In addition to the orchestra, a chamber choir was formed.

2018

On Epiphany Day this year, another concert was held. This time with early classical and classical symphonies by J. Haydn, C. Ph. E. Bach and G. B. Pergolesi.

The participation in the Chamber Orchestra Festival in Ahrensburg (D) in May 2018 was one of the highlights of the orchestra so far. In addition to the concert on 26 May, there was time for exchange with other young musicians from Ludwigslust, Lübeck, Ahrensburg and Esplugues (ESP) as well as time for excursions to the nearby hanseatic cities of Hamburg and Lübeck. The concert programme was largely taken over from the winter project.

The concert on 27 July in Oberbozen was a baroque firework display with high and late baroque works by J. B. Lully, G. F. Händel, J. Ph. Rameau and J. S. Bach.

2017

Shortly after the new year the first winter project took place with the concert on Epiphany in the church of Oberbozen. With these concerts, the ensemble showed its flexibility: the symphony orchestra in summer became a small chamber orchestra. The programme, consisting mainly of Baroque music (works by M. A. Charpentier, H. Purcell, J. H. Schein, J. S. Bach and W. A. Mozart), thematically brought the Christmas season to a close.

In the summer of the same year a symphonic orchestra was formed. At the two concerts on 31 July in Oberbozen and 1 August in the courtyard of Girlan winery, compositions by J. Ph. Rameau, G. Ph. Telemann and F. Schubert were performed. In addition, the soprano soloist Judith Gallmetzer gave Carpaccio's vocal debut with the aria Je veux vivre by Ch. Gounod. In the following years, vocal music became increasingly important in the Concert Association.

2016

For the following year's project, with the final concert on 7 July in the Aula Magna of the Klobenstein Secondary School, the number of musicians had already grown considerably, so that symphonic works by J. Haydn, F. Schubert and G. Bizet could also be performed. In addition, two members (Alessio Dainese and Roman Bozzetta) were able to perform as soloists with classical concerts by W. A. Mozart and G. Ch. Wagenseil.

2015

The concert on 1st August 2015 in Oberbozen, together with the preceding rehearsal period, was the birth of Carpaccio. The short but nevertheless varied concert programme (with pieces by J. Dowland, C. Monteverdi, Ch. W. Gluck and L. van Beethoven) already foreshadowed important conceptual ideas of the ensemble. The ensemble continues to move between the musical epochs of the Renaissance and Romanticism, and we are still keen to give space to lesser-known composers and works in concert.
